Lane Crawford, Hong Kong’s leading specialty store, offering the largest assortment of international brands in Asia, introduced a fashion film series in collaboration with New York designer, Phillip Lim. It’s titled 4×3.1 and viewers are taken on an artistic journey through the cities of Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, and Paris, presenting the essence of each city through the eyes of a respective local artist – Victoria Tang (Hong Kong), Rain Li (Beijing), Elle Muliarchyk (New York), and Yi Zhou (Paris).
Each film is showcasing the Phillip Lim woman – cast differently for each film but wearing a custom 3.1 Phillip Lim outfit. Every story features a red door which symbolises a unique journey of a woman as she discovers her sense of time and place in the city.
I think it’s an nice enough effort, it definitely has it’s moments. And it shows that commercial fashion films 1. don’t always have to be initiated by brands, 2. are regarded as a marketing instrument on an international level by now.
