Mexican directors Santiago and Mauricio Sierra show us an extremely aesthetic car crash in their film featuring the Louis Vuitton spring collection. The styling, the unbelievable hairstyling, the effects and the music fit perfectly and create a Lynch-like atmosphere between dream and reality. Even the slow motion in this fashion film actualy affects you. Wonderful.

Nowness celebrates its first birthday, as one can expect, with another masterpiece, called “Pauline”. Filmmaker Barnaby Roper, who has also crafted the facinating fashion film Iris, created a tableau of sliced images of model Pauline van der Cruysse. Each image is accompanied by a musical element, which all added together result in a symphony. The spectator can add, eliminate or enlarge each image in order to create his own symphony. But instead of just anticipating, try it out yourself!

Nowness presents Johan Lindeberg’s new clothing line BLK DNM by Martin de Thurah’s “Film 1”. The danish director, who has done numerous music videos such as Fever Ray’s “When I grow up”, shows a couple subtly detaching from eachother. The spectral mood of the film together with the moving script makes the presented clothing become secondary. Nevertheless, the film is certainly worth 8 minutes of your time.

Nowness once again delivers – with this outstanding piece of video editorial. “The Ice Queen” has it all: crystal-clear imagery with a perfect lighting and a fine score (the piano melody at the beginning is very “Eyes Wide Shut”, right?) edited in a calm and trance-like pace.

LA-based photographer Alex Prager turnes director in this 50s chiller. For this film “Despair”, Prager worked with model and actress Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of director Ron Howard.

Imagine you’re a hip&hot photographer from L.A.
Right, L.A., that’s where they used to shoot those classy films in the 50s and the 60s which, no big surprise here, still have a big impact on your work. So, why not make one of those flicks yourself, you might ask yourself. And when you’re at it, you might as well team up with some industry heavyweights like director of photography Matthew Libatique (Pi, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream, Gothika, Iron Man) and editor George Folsey Jr (Blues Brothers, Hostel). And instead of a model, you could cast a real actress already, maybe someone like Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village, Manderlay, Spider-Man 3 and, ehem, Eclipse)?

Witness a true classic of the fashion film genre! This is what you get, when the pros work it! “Despair” won Best Artistic Direction on the third edition of Diane Pernet’s Fashion Film Festival “A Shaded View On Fashion Film”.

For photography, Ryan & crew used the Phantom camera (capable of capturing video at over 1000 frames per second, same one used here and here). It’s another hit for Nowness and became an instant classic when released a few months back.

Very nice Fashion Film for Nowness.com by Barnaby Roper. Barnaby Roper, who already proved his capabilities as a Fashion Videographer in his Showstudio Projects “Mouth” and the great interactive “Eniko” (be shure to check this one out – you can edit your own Fashion Video!) is back with a new film featuring the cool Iris Strubegger. It’s very simple AND effective, basically using only one effect, which slices the picture in horizontal chunks and arranges them anew. Enjoy!
